11/07/19: Motions passed at CLP
At our monthly CLP all-members’ meeting last night, two motions were proposed, one by a member and one by the campaign group, and voted on by those in attendance. The discussion was balanced, with opposing points raised as well as those in support of the motions. Both were passed, and full text of the motions can be found on our Motions Passed page.
11/07/19: More new officers elected
At the July all-members’ meeting last night, we elected new officers to vacant positions on the Executive Committee. Helena Jansen van Vuuren was elected as Treasurer, Aaron O’Reilly as Youth Officer, Gill Higginson as Women’s Officer, and Andy Vincent as Membership Officer. We still have a number of vacant positions and would very much like to fill the Disability, BAME, and IT roles.

13/06/19: New officers elected at AGM
At our Annual General meeting last night, we elected new officers to the Executive Committee. Adrian Scandrett was elected as Chair, Anne Thompson as Vice-Chair, Alan Boon as Secretary, and Arthur Greaves as Trade Union Liaison. Hester Gallen is staying on as LGBT Officer, and the new EC would like to thank outgoing officers Sonya Andermahr, Wendy Mead, and Michael Bailey for their service over the past year.
04/05/19: AGM next Wednesday
Our Annual General Meeting will take place at the Methodist Church Hall in Towcester, on Wednesday June 12th. Agenda for this meeting, and the regular All Members’ Meeting which follows it, will be distributed by e-mail. We understand that there are issues with e-mail for some members – if you are having problems receiving our mails please contact us on this address.
23/04/19: All meetings suspended until after European elections
In accordance with party rules, we are suspending all meetings until after the European elections. This will affect April’s Executive Committee meeting, and May’s All Members’ and Northampton Branch meetings. Our Executive Committee will meet again at the end of May, and our AGM – which was to have been held at May’s All Member’s meeting – will now take place on June 12th.
03/04/19: Campaign Days announced
Our next Campaign Days have been decided for April 13th and April 27th, in Upton and Towcester, respectively. All members have been e-mailed details of the events, but you can also find details at Labour’s Event centre.
28/03/19: New acting Secretary appointed
At our Executive Committee meeting last night, Adrian Scandrett was nominated to act as Secretary until our AGM in May, and this was unanimously agreed by the officers present. You can contact Adrian here.

10/03/19: Vacant Secretary position
Our CLP Secretary has had to resign due to personal reasons and so we have a vacancy! Executive Committee elections are due at the May AGM but if any of our members fancy filling in until then (with perhaps an eye to continuing after?), please get in touch!
06/03/19: Inaugural Northampton Branch meeting a success
We were pleased to welcome members from across the 4 Northampton wards at our inaugural branch meeting tonight, and it lays a solid foundation for activism and representation in those wards. A further meeting was called for Wednesday April 3rd, with full details to follow.
02/03/19: Activists across the generations campaigning in Towcester today!
We set out our campaigning stall in Towcester today and took the Labour Party to the people of the town. The reception suggests we still have a lot to do in getting Labour’s core message out, but the attendance by our dedicated volunteers – women from across the generations – was heartening by itself!
01/03/19: Cllr Emma Roberts at our next meeting
Our next meeting is Wednesday March 13th at 7.30pm, at the Chantry House in Towcester. We’ll be welcoming Northampton Borough Cllr Emma Roberts (Delapre & Briar Hill) to hear about her first few months on the job! All Labour Party members welcome!
24/02/19: Campaigning Stall in Towcester on March 2nd
We’ll be having a stall in Towcester on Saturday March 2nd, from 12 to 2pm, under Sponne Arch (just off Watling Street). We’ll be handing out Labour Party literature and engaging any interested passers-by in conversation about the work of South Northants Labour Party. Come along and join us!
15/02/19: Climate Change discussion at All-Members’ meeting
At last night’s All-Members’ meeting, our Women’s Officer Wendy Mead led a discussion on the climate change emergency facing our planet. Wendy led with an introductory talk (which can be found here), and the discussion afterwards was wide-ranging and engaging. As a member-led CLP, we are committed to addressing issues that concern YOU, so please get in touch if you have any ideas for future discussions.
14/02/19: Northampton Branch Meeting on March 6th
All members within the four wards that are part of Northampton Borough – Nene Valley, East Hunsbury, West Hunsbury, and Upton – have today been sent e-mails with details of a meeting to establish a Northampton branch of our CLP. The branch will have two aims – to provide representation for South Northants members to the Labour group on Northampton Borough Council, and to increase activism locally in those wards. The meeting is at 7.30pm on Wednesday March 6th, at Hunsbury Library. All members welcome.
